Singhpuri Jain Tirth - Bh. Shreyansnath

Location : 6 Kilometers away from Varanasi.

The Village Hiravanpur now known as Sarnath about 8 Kilometers from Varanasi Cant, has two temples, one belonging to Swetambar Sect and other to Digambar Sect, both of these being of eleventh Tirthankar Shri Shreyansnath Bhagwan. On of the temples has a 103 feet tall stoopa, supposed to be about 2200 years old.

It is famous as sarnath. This is the Kalyanak Kshetra of Bhagwan Shreyanshnath whose Garbh, Birth, Penance and Gyan Kalyankas were held. Out side the temple there is one Monastery which is said to have been constructed by King Ashok.
