Ponnur Malai Tirth - Tamil Nadu

Location : 40 Kms From Tindivanam, 10 From Budvasi And 3 Kms From Ponnur Village.

There is a visual charming statue of Lord Mahavir. This ancient pilgrimage was established in the first century of Christ. Ponnurmalai is also called Hemgiri. This mountain is about 300 Meter high. The mountain peak is of Neelgiri mountain range is sacred grove of Acharya Kund-Kund. Still today vestige of Acharya Kund-Kund are existing near the mountain. The atmosphere of the mountain is very peaceful, pure and convenient for meditation and probans.

Acharya Kund-Kund was the Era-founder of Jain religion. He was the great ascetic-pungav of Dravid Monestary. He wrote so many sacred books, out of which 'Tirukkural' is unique in logic, convention and spiritualism. It is attractive and acceptable not only for the scholars but for the common people also. Although he was born in Kond-Konds town near Guntkal city of Andhra Pradesh yet he meditated and wrote his most of the literature at Ponnur Malai.
