Manovanchhit Shwetambar Jain Tirth - Bh. Paraswanath

Mulnayak: Nearly 50 cms high, black-coloured idol of Bhagwan Manovanchhit Paraswanath in the Padmasana posture. There is an umbrella of 7 hoods over the head of the idol.

Historicity: History says that the idol of Manovanchhit Paraswanath in the city of Ner was brought here from Burhanpur. Even without a coating, this delicate and well-shaped idol which is more than 500 years old, looks very new and inspires love. This idol of Manovanchhit Paraswanath destroys unfulfilled desires and discontentedness of people and justifies its name. It is an ornament of the city of Ner. In ancient times, the city of Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh was a prosperous and flourishing city with 18 Jain temples. Today, there is only one Jain temple. Many idols from these temples have been installed in different Jain temples in India and worshipped with great faith. One such idol is the idol of Manovanchhit Paraswanath. This idol was brought from Burhanpur and installed in the temple of Ner. When the original temple became old, it was renovated and the idol was re-installed by the sangha under the auspices of Panyaspravar Shri Surendravijayji Ganivar on the tenth day of the bright half of the month of Vaishakh in the year 1988 of the Vikram era.. A fair of non-jains is held on the eleventh day of the bright half of the month of Falgun.

Works of art and Sculpture:This tirth is a gateway to Maharashtra (Khandesh) from Gujarat for Jain Sadhus and Sadhvis during Vihar. This Tirth is a beautiful halting place for Sadhus. This idol looks beautiful with the hood and fulfils the wishes of people. Full of peace and beauty, it is an ornament of the city of Ner.

Guidelines: The nearest railway station of Dhulia is at a distance of 27 Kilometers. from here. Ner is on the bus route between Dhulia and Surat. Surat is at a distance of 200 Kilometers. from Ner. Bus service and private vehicles are available. Dharamshala and Bhojanshala facilities are available here. There is an upashraya also.

Scripture: A mention of Manovanchhit Parshvanath is made in “Shri 108 Paraswanath Chand”. An idol of Manovanchhit Paraswanath is there in Jiravala Tirth, in Kareda Tirth and in Kalikund Paraswanath temple in Santacruz, Mumbai. This Tirth has become sacred as many Great Acharyas Like Acharya Shri Yashodevsurishvarji, Acharya Shri Bhuvanbhanusurishvarji, Acharya Shri Jayantsurishvarji, Acharya Shri Vikramsurishvarji, Acharya Shri Raiwatsurishvarji Etc have visited this Tirth.
