Jain Tirth - Bh. Parshwanath

Main Idol : Nearly 120 cms. high and white-coloured idol of Bhagawan Panchasara Parshwanath in the Padmasana posture.

Location : The Railway Station of Patan is at a distance of three Kilometers from the temple. Mehsana is at a distance of 30 kilometers, Siddhpur is at a distance of 19 Kilometers and Charup is at a distance of 10 kilometers from here. Bus service and service of private vehicles are available. There are board and lodging provisions. There are also many Upashrayas.

History : The history of this city begins from the year 802 of the Vikram era. But the idol of this temple is still more ancient. In the year 802 of the Vikram era, this city was named Anhilpur Patan. The brave king Vanraj Chavda brought this idol here from Panchasara, the capital of his ancestors and got the extraordinary idol installed here under the auspices of Shri Sheelagunsuriji. This idol, therefore, became famous as Panchasara Parshvanath. Later on, in the time of Kumarpal and other kings of the Choulukya Dynasty, many temples are built here. In the list of temples made by Shri Lalitprabhasursvarji in the year 1648 of the Vikram era, there were 101 big temples and 99 small temples. In these temples, there were thousands of idols and 38 of them were made of gems. From the year 802 of the Vikram era till today, thousands of temples were built in the city of Patan. Some of the temples were destroyed and then renovated. In respect of expansion, splendor, wealth, prosperity, trade, bravery and compassion, this was a leading city. It was, therefore, known as the golden city. Shri Hemchandracharya wrote here many scriptures. Even today, Patan has a treasure of Jain literature, art and culture . There are many Jain temples with many Jain idols and works of art. Since this city as prosperous since ancient times, there are relics of ancient art here and there Ranivava and the Sahasraling lake are among ancient sculptural works. Patolas (Kind of saris) are very famous even today.
