A Prayer for Peace For Iran and Israel
Appeals to the hearts of the people of Iran and Israel, encouraging peace, brotherhood, and mutual respect:
O children of the shared soil
O children of the ancient soil,
Why burn what our birthright gave us?
From the silence of Sinai to the fire of Pars,
The soul of humanity is one, without contradiction, without grudge.
Your rivers are separate, but your blood is one,
Under one sun, under one bright moon.
In mosque and church and synagogue you chant,
For a God who weeps from war.
Why trade the olive branch for the sword?
Why swap the plowshare for the spear?
The wail of mothers reaches the heavens—
No holy book sanctifies a child's cry.
O Israel, with a valiant heart,
Heir to prophets and words of light,
Remember messages of compassion—
Not vengeance masked as faith.
O Iran, with a fiery spirit,
Hafez and Rumi still sing within you.
Let the song of love rise high, not missiles,
Let flowers bloom, not blood upon the earth.
We are not enemies of fate,
But victims of the legend of hate.
Let us rewrite that story—
Peace is the bravest path.
Build bridges, not walls,
For every rampart falls in time.
But those who sow with kindness
Will reap fruit in the embrace of peace.
Let children laugh, fathers build,
Fields be tilled, not turned to graveyards.
Let scholars meet, merchants trade,
And songs take the place of bullets.
O brothers distant yet near,
The world is weary of fear and war.
The future whispers in song:
Choose solidarity, not chains.
And on that day when flags rise in peace,
Your glory will shine forth.
For the strong one is he who declares:
"I choose the path of peace."
