Release of Special Cover Bearing Images of Mahavir and Buddha : Bihar State of India is an important pilgrimage center of Jain & Buddha Religions. It is the land of Bhagwan Mahaveer and Bhagwan Buddha. On 24th Dec. 2002, a beautiful multi-colored special cover has been released at Patna to mark the TTM 2002 by the Bihar Postal Circle. This special cover bears images of both the Gods with their Temples. Left side picture is of Gautam Buddha with Shanti Stupa situated at Rajgir (Bihar) & right side picture is of Lord Mahaveer with Lotus Temple at Pawapuri (Bihar). "Bhagwan Buddha Evam Mahaveer Kee Dharti Ko Shat-Shat Pranam" is printed in the bottom in Hindi. Stamp Issued on Tribhuvan Tilak Chudamani Temple & Bhattarak Swamiji : On the occasion of Third year Pattabhisheka Vardhanthyutsava of His Holiness Swastishri Bhattarak Charukirti Panditacharyavarya Swamiji of Sri Jain Math, Moodbidri (Karnataka), a special cover has been issued on 29th August 2002 at Moodbidri and Indian Postal Department has provided a special pictorial cancellation. This beautiful special cover depict photographs of famous Tribhuvan Tilak Chudamani Temple (Thousand Pillars Temple) and Bhattarak Swamiji. Special cancellation bears line sketches of Tirthankar with cow & lion drinking water jointly in the same pot.

Stamp in Honour of Acharya Anand Rishiji Maharaj : Postal department has issued a multi-colored of Rs. 4/- stamp in honour of renowned Acharya Anand Rishiji Maharaj on 9th august 2002. Acharya Anand Rishiji Maharaj was one such soul, whose contributions in the social and educational spheres have been a prolific and significant as his spiritual guidance to his followers. He was born at Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) in August 1900 and received initiation from Ratan Rishiji Maharaj at the age of 13, thereby formally committing himself to a life of spiritual pursuits and service to humanity. He Mastered the Jain Scriptures as well as ancient philosophical texts of Sanskrit language. His teachings were deep rooted in love, non-violence and tolerance. He was proficient in nine languages and wrote extensively in Marathi and Hindi. He had founded numerous educational and religious institutions and also rejuvenated many ailing institutions and founded magazines. Postal Stamp on Jain Ruler Chandragupta Maurya Released : Indian Government has issued a postage stamp on Jain ruler Chandragupta Maurya. Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Minister of Communications released this stamp in the denomination of Rs.4 at Kanpur on July 21, 2001. Chandragupta Maurya : Chandragupta Maurya, a historical Jain ruler, stands out as one among the most colorful personalities of Indian history. He conquered many states including Magadhaand formed a vast Mauryan Empire with the capital at Pataliputra in 322 B.C. He was a far-sighted ruler, who not only expanded his territories, but also established a well-organized administrative system and gave it a sound financial base, thus laying the foundation for an enduring empire. Chandragupta Maurya had set a high ideal and is stated to have believed that his happiness lay in the happiness of his subjects and that in their troubles lay his troubles. Chandragupta's reign lasted for about 25 years.Having been influenced by the Jain saint Bhadrabahu Swami, he adopted Jainism. He is believed to have abdicated the throne in favour of his son Bindusara and pursued a spiritual life thereafter. Born in a poor family as Pataliputra, with the inspiration and able guidance of Chanakya, he conquered many states including Magadha and Greeks and forms a vast Mauryan Empire. During his begin India prospered and developed a lot in the terms of Trade & Commerce, Art & Culture. He adopted Jainism, renounced the worldly affairs, became disciple of Jain Muni Bhadrabahu Swami and followed him to South India where at Sravanbelgola (Karnatak) he spent his last days, (298 B.C.). A hill there was called after him as Chandragiri, where his foot prints are still available. He encouraged the Coinage system in his empire in place of barter system.
Postal Stamp on Bhamashah - January 2001 : In the memory of Late Shri Bhamashah, great philanthropist of Mewar, Rajasthan, a postage stamp has been issued by the Government of India.Bhamashah was born on 25th June, 1547 in a respectable Oswal Jain family of Chittore-Garh. He was the Commander, Chief Minister, colleague and supporter of Maharana Pratap and had given him generous and bountiful financial support to the Maharana to enable him to regain his lost empire from Akbar.
Postal Stamp on Shri. V. Shantarm - Outstanding Jain Personality : On 18th Nov. 2001 Indian Postal department has issued a stamp on renowned Film Producer Shri V. Shantaram. He was Jain and honoured with Jain Samaj Ratna award. He was born on 18th November 1901 in a reputed Jain family at Kolhapur, and entered the world of drama at the tender age of 12. Shantaram has many firsts to his credits, during his Prabhat days. These include the first children's film, Ranisaheba, in 1930, first use of a camera trolly in 1931, for the silent film Chandrasena, first Marathi talkie Ayodhyecha Raja in 1933, the first colour film Sairendhri in 1933, production of gramophone records from the original sound track in 1934, use of telephoto lens for Amrit Manthan in 1935, first animation film Jambukaka in 1936, and the first utilisation of back-projection for Amar Jyoti in 1937.

Shantaram has made many outstanding contribution to the development and enrichment of Indian Cinema. A pioneer to the core, crusader and master craftsman, he has invested his films, not only with directorial excellence but also technical advancement, artistic and cultural values. Known for bold experimenting with technique and themes, he has given Indian Cinema many socially purposeful films. His films have gathered many National and International awards. Shantaram made his mark on the International film scene when Amar Jyoti received a Certificate of Merit at the venice Film Festival in 1936. Amar Bhoopali was named for Best Sound Recording from the Centre National de La Cinematographic, at the Cannes Film Festival in 1952. The film which was Shantaram's crowning glory was Do Aankhen Bara Haath, winning awards from the Hollywood Press Association, the Berlin Film Festival, and His Holiness the Pope's Catholic Award. It was named Best film of 1957 at the National Film Awards. Shantaram's other films to get awards were Sehra and Geet Gaya Patharone, both for colour photography.
Shantaram was named Best Director for the Filmfare Award in 1956 for his film Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje, and the BFJA award as Best Director for the film Parbat Pe Apna Dera in 1945. Jhunj won the Maharashtra State Award for Best Editing in 1975. Awards in memory have been instituted by Central Government and Maharashtra State Government, and the V. Shantaram Motion Picture Scientific Research and Cultural Foundation, established in 1993, shortly after the maestro's death, offers various awards to film makers, presented on 18th November each year being Shantaram's birth anniversary.
Shantaram was honoured with Padmabhushan in 1992. He has been connected with various film institutions, being a member of the Film Advisory Board and Central Board of Film Censors. He was the founder President of the Film Producers Guild of India, member of the S. K. Patil Film Inquiry Committee, and founder member of the Children's Film Society. Postal Stamps on Gandhiji & Saint Shrimad Rajchandraji : On the occasion of 133rd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a special cover has been issued by the Indian Postal Department on 2-10-2002 at Patna. This special cover is also related to Jainism. In the picture printed on the special cover, Gandhiji is sitting with renowned Jain spiritual Saint Shrimad Rajchandraji. Significance of picture is - before going to U. K. for higher studies, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi met the Jain spiritual leader Shrimad Ramchandraji, who preached him the principles of Truth & Non-Violence, which eventually led him to become a "Mahatma". Indian Postal Department also provided a special cancellation on this cover which bears most beloved slogan of Mahatma Gandhi "Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwan".
