The teerth kshetra is situated in the vicinity of the Street of Sindhavis in the Nagaur village. The temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Rishabh Dev, the first Jain Tirthankara.

History of Sri Nagaur Teerth : According to history Sri Nagaur Teerth dates back to the ancient period. As per reference the name of the teerth was earlier Nagpur. The place has earlier served as the centre of the Jain religion. The Nagaur Chaitya Paripati states that there were once seven temples here. An inscription has been found in the temple according to which an idol of Bhagwan Mahavira was also installed in the year 919 of the Vikram Samvat Era. The temple of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev is also known as Motamandir. It was installed in the sixteenth century. Many Acharyas and sages have also visited this place. This place has also been the birthplace of many religious leaders. Here Kalikalasarvagna Hemchandracharya was bestowed upon the title of Acharya. In the year 1406 of the Vikram Samvat Era Acharya Jinalabdhiji died here. Many religious activities have been carried out here. The idol of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev is believed to possess miraculous powers. Thousands of Jains and non Jains from far off places visit the temple to offer their prayers. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.

Temple of Sri Nagaur Teerth : The temple of Sri Nagaur Teerth houses the idol of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev. The Swetambara temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate artistic designs. The creative temple work boast about the skills of the craftsmen. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art and paintings. The idol of the Lord is 65 cm in height and is white in colour. It is seated in a padmasana posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very appealing. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. Apart from this there are five other attractive temples located here. These temples have also been tastefully decorated with beautiful designs. Besides these, one Guramandir and one Dadavadi can also be seen here. One can also see temples of the Tapagachchha, the Khartaragachchha, the Parsvachandrasurigachchha and the Lokhagachchha.

The Temple of Sri Nagaur Teerth organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. Apart from this there are Upashrays, an Ayambilshala and a Jnanabhandar. The teerth is situated amidst beautiful natural surroundings. The temple is enclosed by scenic beauty that mesmerises and fascinates the pilgrims. The calm and tranquil environment and the surrounding greenery make it a suitable place for religious activities. The kshetra is well connected to road, rail and air. Taxi services and bus services are easily available here. The nearest railway station is located at Nagaur that is two kilometers away from the temple. It is 138 kilometers away from the main city of Jodhpur.
