A Twelfth Century Handbook on Shvetambara Jainism
Publisher : Harvard Oriental Studies, Vol. 60, Cambridge : Harvard University Press, 2002.
This book is a translation of Hemachandra's Yogasastra into English. The Yogasastra, the most comprehensive treatise on Shvetambara Jainism, was written in the 12th century by the polymath Hemachandra. It is a systematic presentation of a set of ideas and practices originally belonging to the Shvetambara integrates innovations of his own as well as non-Jain elements o pan-Indian and Saiva provenance, attesting to a strong Tantric influence on mediaeval Jainism.
