Virat Nagar, Rajasthan

Location : Virat Nagar, Rajasthan

Shri Parshvanath Digambar Jain Nasiyan (also known as Nasiyaji) is situated outside of Bairat town at the foot of the Vindhyachal Mountain in Jaipur district of Rajasthan.

The history of the town goes back to the time of the Mahabharata, when it was known as "Viratnagar" which was the capital of the ancient Mahajanapada (Kingdom) of Machcha or Matsya. The kingdom came under the control of the neighboring Chedi Kingdom in the 5th century and was later part of the Mauryan Empire.

Shri Parshvanath Digambar Jain Nasiyan was built in the 16th century. The entrance to the temple complex is the Mughal Darwaza (Mughal Gate) which is supposed to be a small replica of the Taj Mahal. The Jain temple has an oblong open courtyard, surrounded by high walls, and carved pillared porticos at the entrance. There are eight cenotaph representing Jain Saints located around the temple.
