Shri Diyana Teerth located in Gujarat is dedicated to the Lord Mahavira. It is one of the five teerths in the Nani Marawadi and dates back to the fifteenth century. Shri Diyana Teerth located in Gujarat is a Jain pilgrimage centre. It is located at a distance of 17 kms from Sarupagunj in the midst of hillocks in forests. The temple is dedicated to the Lord Mahavira, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara.
History of Shri Diyana Teerth : According to history Shri Diyana Teerth dates back to the ancient times. Before the fifteenth century it was a very populated place and was resided by people of different cultures. However, very few people now live here. It is one of the five teerths in the Nani Marawadi. The kshetra goes back to the times of Lord Mahavira. It is believed that the Lord stayed and practised meditation here. His elder brother Nandivardhana had constructed a majestic temple with 52 small Jain temples. As per a reference Shri Parshvanatha Charitra was composed here. The idol is regarded to have miraculous powers. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees from different places. It is believed that by worshipping the Lord with full devotion one can get all their wishes fulfilled.
Temple of Shri Diyana Teerth : Temple of Shri Diyana Teerth houses the idol of Lord Mahavira. The lord here is known as Jivitaswami. The temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate artistic designs. It stands as a unique example of ancient architectural beauty. The idol is white in colour and is 90 cm in height. It is seated in a padmasana posture. The temple also has Kausaggiya idols installed. One of these idols is adorned by an umbrella of five fangs and the other by seven fangs. Lord Mahavira has five waist bands. Below the idol of the Lord a Dharmachakra and two deer have been carved. An inscription of V.S. 1682 can also be seen here. Inscriptions dating to the 13th century and 14th centuries have been carved here.
The Temple of Shri Diyana Teerth organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. Being located in the midst of mountain-ranges on three sides, the temple is enclosed by scenic beauty with full greenery and natural surroundings that attracts and mesmerises the pilgrims. The calm and tranquil environment makes it a suitable place for religious activities. The kshetra is well connected to road, rail and air. The nearest bus stop is located at Swarupaganj. Busses and taxies are easily available for this kshetra. The nearest railway station is situated at Abu Road at a distance of 50 km. the closest airport is located at Ahmedabad.
