Mr. Sancheti has been an eminent writer, philanthropist and an authority on Jain religion, art and culture. He is a respected senior citizen hailing from Jodhpur. He had his graduation in law and post graduation in commerce from Allahabad University. He worked with Indian Railways and retired in the year 1982 as their Financial Adviser. After retirement, he wrote several essays, plays on subjects concerning Jainism and conducted extensive research on Jain art and culture. He brought out the famous book, First Steps to Jainism in two volumes, which has widely acclaimed all over the world. The books covers basic philosophy of Jainism, the doctrine of Karma, Anekantawada and other related topics. Mr. Sancheti has recently brought out his most stupendous work, Kalidasa's world famous Indian ballad, Meghadutam in 36 languages, which include 12 European languages, 15 Indian regional languages and 9 Indian dialects. He has just been honoured by the Guinness World Records Ltd. by including his book in the Guinness Book of World Records. The book has been produced in three volumes, giving the text in verse form in Sanskrit language on one side and the corresponding translated language on the other side, also in verse form. He deserves to be considered as a distinguished personality and a celebrity amongst the entire Jain community.
