Lala Jamboo Prasad ( 1877-1923 )
Founder - Dig. Jain Mahasabha
Philanthrophist and prominent social figure of his time L. Jamboo Prasad was adopted as his son by L. Uggar Sain, one of the founders of Dig. Jain Mahasabha, had left deep impressions of his religious life on young Jamboo Prasad. Freed from the litigation about the estate during early years, since 1907 onwards he gave his active support to religious and social works of far reaching importance including the case of Shri Sammed Shilharji. He constructed a Jain temple and established a Sanskrit Pathshala at Saharanpur which for many years is running as J. V. Jain Degree College there. He had taken a vow to celibacy in 1921 and had taken other Vratas in 1923. A daily worshipper he devoted much time to religious duties. Having independent nature he never cared for personal publicity. He had refused to accept the title of Rai Bahadur and never paid visits to the officers. He was honoured with title of Tirthbhakta Shiromani for his services to the protection of Jain Tirthaskhetras. Sir Seth Hukam Chand and other senior Jain leaders of the time had much regard for him.
