Shravasti occupies an important place in Jain mythology. It is located about 109 Kilometers from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Presently there is a Digambar Jain temple of Shri Sambhavnath Ji, the Third Tirthankar who was born, and had his Diksha and Kewal Gyan at this place. Tirthankaras in subsequent periods, specially, Shri Shantinath Ji, Shri Parshavnath Ji and Shri Mahaveer Swami had visited this place many times. It had been a flourishing town and capital city of many empires in the ancient past.

It is the Garbh, Birth and penance place of third Tirthankar Bhagwan Sambhavnath. Makardhwaj, son of king Jinshatru and Seth Nagardutt had penance and got salvation from this place. It is said that the famous temple of Sommnath was once a Jain temple where 1000 years old idol of Bhagwan Sambhavnath and some other idols can be seen even today.
