Purimtal Jain Tirth - Bh. Adinath

This temple of Shri Adinatha Bhagwan, belonging to Digambar Sect, is located right in the town of Allahabad. The place was earlier known as Purimtal and was later known in history as Prayag. It is believed that Shri Adanitaha Ji attained Kewal Gyan under a banyan tree at this place. Other tirthankaras also visited this place in different periods, including the last one, Lord Mahavir. During Mughal period, this town was renamed by Akbar, as Allahabad.
