Chanderi - Khandagiri Jain Tirth

Chanderi is 22 Kilometers from Thuvon. The bada Jain Mandir is about 1 Kilometer from Chanderi Bus stand. There are 29 artistic idols of Tirthanakaras. Each idol of a Tirthanakr is in a separate Garbhgriha and according to the varna as per scriptures. This temple was built By Shri Sawaisingh Ji and the idols were installed in 1893 AD. A Dharamshala for Sadhus and one for pilgrims is nearby.

The chanderi is a center of Jain culture. There are a number of Jain Places Nearby Gurilagiri 7 Kilometers, Aamanachar 29 Kilometers on Mungawali Road, Bithala 19 Kilometers from Chanderi, Bhamon 16 Kilometers and Bhiyadant 14 Kilometer from Chanderi

Khandargiri is about 5 Kilometers from Chanderi. Here the idols are in the rocks and were called ‘kandra’ which became Khandarji. Here an idol of Bhagwan Bahubali Swami in Kayotsarg posture. The locals call it Aughad Baba. There are images of serpents, lizards and mouse on the idol.

In Chanderi we can find 29 idols of the Tirthankaras. The idols of all the Tirthankaras are installed in Seperate sanctum sanctorums.  The uniqueness of these idols is their colours, the colour of these idols are as per the Jaina Puranas. All these idols can be found in the Bada Jain Mandir which is about one kilometer from the main bus stand. This temple was built by Sri Sawaisingh in 1893 AD. The boarding and lodging facilities for the ascetics and the pilgrims are Avialable in the Dharmashala near the temple.
