Whether we refer to an individual's search for true happiness, communal harmony or international relationship between nations, Jainism's ancient wisdom provide insight and assistance towards creating a better humane and longer lasting world. Samyaktva True insight, is a unique mystical experience design to illuminate, illustrate and emotionally engage the audience in the great principle of Ahimsa Anekantavad and Aparigarh, non-violence non-absolutism and non-possessiveness. This film recalls the magic realism of the 13th century Jain literature where miracles and symbolism explained the timeless wisdom of the sages. Similarly in this film, fantasy is intergrated with subtle moral reasoning and a dramatic storyline. In the traditional metaphysical quest our protagonist represent the present generation. Fighting the inner battle and in search of spiritual liberation from the contradictions of life. She is swept away on a spiritual journey by her guide and mentor Indra, the king of all gods. The dancers represent the human race on this planet and wrong. Bridging the human and divine world are the Jain sadhvis, who shows the path to the peace and harmony with oneself and nature. Thus, samayaktva depicts the sheer importance and power of ancient Indians wisdom as the path to peace and the relevant of Jain way of the life to the survival of mankind on this planet.
An interview By Mr. Rajesh Jain 1. During YJI (Young Jains of India) convention at New Delhi on 3rd Nov ’06, your film ‘SAMYAKTVA’ on was released by Smt. Indu Jain, & after that people have started identifying you as ‘Manju Jain’ instead of ‘Manju Singh’ – your reaction pl ? I really take this a compliment…My exposure to the Jain philosophy and to the wisdom of the living gurus like Mahapragya ji and Vidyanand maharaj has influenced me a great deal..I sincerely hope to follow the Jain principles and teaching in my daily life. 2. What inspired you to produce such type of movie, based on Jain philosophy – is it not something which limits wisdom of film maker to specific community of the society?Specially in light of your Ek Kahani image? I think the message of this film is for all people not only the Jain community. Ancient Indian wisdom, and in this instance Jain principles promote peace and harmony and encourages peaceful co existence for all. I see it as reaching out to many and see it not as limiting in any way. 3. Though basic Jain principles are same, but there are many sectors in jain themselves- Digamber, Shwetamber & others – how did you balance them while making the film? I took Mahaprgya ji’s advice on this. And was encouraged by Vidyanand maharaj and Chandana ji. Therefore the four sadhvis who guide the main protagonist represent all the four seets. And the fact that they are real sammnis and sadhvis helped us a great deal. 4. Samyaktva’ is mainly focused on ‘Aparigrah’ – in the beginning is one modern metro girl – shopping at the mall which is symbolizing the materialistic wealth then the restless girl follows jain sadhvis – symbolizing jain values…at the end through tap water conservation, again’ Aparigrah’ is highlighted – what about other values like kshama & Tap etc. We wanted to keep the film simple so that the younger generation of Jain and non Jain could understand the basic premise. Going into detail would have made it complicated especially for International audience.i hope the film will arouse curiosity to know more. 5. Like IQ, now I talk of JQ –meaning JAIN QUOTIENT – or ‘JAIN-GIRI’ ,another word like Gandhigiri. What is your JQ? Difficult to assess ? Because at times we teal that we are following certain attribute but not in a position to clearly quantity the same. 6. There are dances in between – which do debut Jainism- what was your idea, to adopt such artistic mode? Is it successful – or there could be some other way of visualizing the same ? To grab and sustain the interest of the viewer films need to resort to various techniques…The dancers represent different castes and creeds and mankind. Indians as well Europeans have participated in a form of dance. For me this works because music and dance are universal medium of expression.
