General Report On the western lawn of the Katala Parishar 6 registration counter were made by white sheet partition giving very aesthetic look to the whole setup. There were 8 exhibition stalls put up by various division of Micro Group of Companies displaying their products and disseminating the latest development/product launch in various field of medicine. A very big exhibition on nutrition and benefits of vegetarian diet was put up by Sh. Nirmal Kr. Jain of Animal welfare society of India, Doctor's forum New Delhi and Mrs. Neera Jain Dietician. Excellent food and catering arrangement were made for all the delegates and their accompany person in the separate big dinning pandal, erected in the back yard of Yatri Niwas of Khetra .The all praise by the delegates for whole of this convention and arrangements was an indication that they enjoyed the two days convention with sumptuous feast of food and scientific material. Every registered delegate was provided with an attractive delegate kit and were presented a memanto depicting the main temple of Shri Mahaveer Ji with a running music of Namokar Mantra which was liked a possession by all the delegates. The Khetra Sarniti provided all possible assistance in holding of this convention. All the participants were full of praise for the organizational achievement and arrangement of this convention by Dr. D. C. Jain and Dr. S. C. Jain. Their level of satisfaction and enthusiasm was so high with this convention that they all desired that such a convention should be held yearly and regularly. All the delegates including Upadhyay Shri were highly appreciative and full of praise for the sponsorship and backup provided by Micro Group of Companies and especially by its young energetic and generous entrepreneur Shri Karun Jain the Executive Director of the company who along with his team of dedicated staff have contributed in the successful management of this convention. Chairman Scientific Programme The speaker from Jaipur Dr. J. P. Sethi spoke about the incidence of coronary artery disease and how it could b~ present with extravascular atheromas and normal coronary angiograms, how young, non11otensives non smoker, non obese Indians were prone to myocardial infarctions due to Homocysteine disorders and also that this could be treated by a tables of Folic acid 5mg a day. Dr. B. L Jain DM Cardiology from Apollo, New Delhi spoke about the significance of "Das Lakshan" in the management of heart disease and hypertension. Giving scientific explanation for each 'Lakshan'. The second session started with Dr. P. C. Kala who spoke on 'Jain Diet' which is free of even onion, garlic, root vegetables and why it is important to avoid these foods. Dr. Monika Jain. DM Ex-assoc Professor in Gastroenterology G.B Pant Hospital, New Delhi, spoke about the Gastroesophageal riflux disease and how it can be treated with the help of medicines and following certain principles of Jainism, as eating early in the evening at least 3 hours before going to bed reduces chances of riflex disease. Dr. Neeraj Jain MRCP Gastroenterologist from Pushpanjali Medical Centre, Delhi spoke about irritable bowel syndrome and its management. How the disease is caused by anger, depression, fear and lack of sleep. Certain foods also irritate the intestines. The role of reassurance, diet modification, meditation and yoga all help to modify the disease. Prof. A. K. Jain from dept of Orthopaedics, GTB Hospital spoke about the significance of calcium rich diet and the need for stress exercise to strengthen the bones. The third session started with Prof. Kalyanraman from Apollo Chennai, who raised very pertinent and thorny issues of medical ethics faced by doctors in their day to day practice, the solutions of these problems more ethical than medical can be found through conscience, and religion can be great support in this quest. The second day's proceedings started with yogacharya Sheshpal Rastogi from Bhartiya Vidhya Bhawan, Delhi who showed us the daily routine in simple and practical way to be followed to get better health and demonstrated both easy and most difficult "asana's' which not only help in disease but also give us positive health. Dr. S. C. Lahiri showed the audience how yoga works by scientifically explaining the principals of EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation) which can also be achieved by pressing the femoral artery or brachial arteries through yoga or by using tennis balls placed in the inguinal area to stop circulation in major arteries thereby diverting the blood to narrowed coronary arteries. The same is achieved through Padmasana and other such asanas. Prof. G. C. Jain from Gauhati spoke on preparation for reth & about the difference between "Salekhna" (Self willed death) and suicide. The) former being a rational decision taken in consultation with a "guru" in full senses when the body due to disease or old age is unable to function properly, so much so that one is not able to follow a normal routine. As opposed to the concept of suicide which is committed in a rash manner under the influence of anger or depression. Dr. N. M. Jain of Jaipur spoke on 'Medicine and Spirituality'. Giving proof of scientific medical research where patients given support of religion through spiritual leaders had better recovery in shorter time and with less medicines. The following session saw Dr. Sharda Jain Ex Professor Lady Harding Medical College and a senior Gynaecologist consultant from Pushpanjali Medical Centre, Delhi speak about the female foeticide which is deplorable and heinous act of a mother or other relatives against an unborn girl child and how this will change the society through change in female to male ratio. She also stressed the need for education of the adolescent girls and boys to prevent their being misguided into the jaws of drug abuse and premarital cohabitation ieading to teenage pregnancies arid spread of AIDS. Dr. Rajeev Jain Psychiatrist from M.P talked about relieving stress through understanding of the Jain principal of 'Anekantvada'. Dr. A.K Jain consultant at ESI Hospital, Noida, spoke on control of stress through principles of jainism The final session saw Dr. K.P.S Malik Prof. of Ophthalmology from Vardhman Medical College, Delhi, speak on ocular cysticercosis, how it is caused by eating meat and through vegetables when proper hygiene is not followed. Dr. B.P Gulliani, Prof. of Ophthalmology Vardhman Medical College, Delhi spoke about the maintenance of good vision for life and how early detection of visual problems can help to save vision in children. Regular cleaning of eyes and good hygiene, good diet and protection from sun were highlighted. Dr. D.C. Jain H.O.D. Neurology. Shri Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College spoke on the 'Neurochemistry of war and peace ", and how food can affect our thoughts to create either violence or non violent, progressive thinking in us. This talk clearly showed the importance of the kind of food we should eat to control our thought, mentioning about the three kinds of foods i.e Rajsic Satvic and Tamsic. This was followed by short papers, one by Dr. Yogesh M.Jain from Aurangabad M.P who spoke about the ill effects of eating after sunset, likening it to 'walking in hell". Dr. J.K.Jain from meerut spoke on "How to be your own doctor" through his own experience of "mind over body" whereby he overcame the effects of genetic, familial diseases and learned to control them without medicine. but through positive thinking. The session ended with a poem on "Sanskar" by Sh. Satish Jain an engineer from Sagar, who empharised the importance of passing on good wisdom, thoughts and habits to our children. The entire programme was followed by blessings from Shri 108 Gyan Sagar Maharaj Ji who also imparted pearls of wisdom to the doctors. -----------------------------------
