Born in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Completed High School under University of Cambridge and post secondary education in India and England. Began career as a Customs Officer in Government of Zanzibar. Moved to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where he joined Comcraft Services Limited, London, England. Immigrated to Canada in 1980 and joined Grant MacEwan College, managing Material Management Department of the college.
